Chota Falls is a 150-acre private family estate nestled in the beautiful Northeast Georgia mountains of Rabun County, Georgia.

The family’s search for the mountain property of their dreams ended when they laid eyes in this magnificent acreage replete with scenic meadows, ponds, streams, miles of nature trails, an abundance of waterfalls and a mountaintop overlook with views of three states. After acquiring the property, the family named the estate Chota, a native Cherokee name meaning “that place to the north where waterfalls flow into a green valley” or, quite simply to the Cherokees, their vision of “Heaven on Earth”.

Today, twenty five years later, Chota Falls boasts the owner’s original log cabin home as well as three beautifully decorated guest houses, The Mountain View Lodge, The Orchard House and The Carriage House. Guest accommodations total nine bedrooms, each with a private bath. Several properties adjacent to Chota Falls also maintain rental cottages that can provide an additional 4 to 12 bedrooms.  Other nearby accommodations total well over 100 well appointed rooms.

In addition to the guest house accommodations, the estate has several guest gathering areas.  The largest are located in the Stekoa Creek House and include the Chota Creek Pub with a long oak bar, wood burning stove and stone patios with tall white heated tents that can seat up to 200 guests. The upstairs Stekoa Room, an indoor climate controlled dining area can accommodate up to 100 guests (with an adjoining covered porch and a tented deck affording seating for an additional 50 to 80 people). The Stekoa Creek House is an ideal facility for receptions and other gatherings. Located alongside a charming country road, the Stekoa Creek House is bordered on two sides by creeks.  A third side overlooks a fountain-flowing trout pond with a deck and views of the Chota vineyard and chapel on a nearby hill.

In the midst of the lush mountain forest, a large, shaded deck, dubbed The Treehouse at the Upper Falls, offers both an outdoor fire pit and an overlook of the Upper Waterfalls. The Treehouse affords guests an enchanting setting for a rehearsal dinner, a bridal luncheon or an intimate wedding ceremony for as many as 50 guests.

Overlooking the valley from atop the hillside Vineyard, The Vineyard Overlook deck provides a scenic location for a wedding ceremony or reception for as many as 60 guests.

Throughout the fall, the blazing foliage makes for an unforgettable backdrop to your special event at Chota Falls, located near the historic town of Clayton, in Rabun County, Georgia.
